If you follow me on Twitter, you probably think I’m spending my snowbirding days taking long walks, riding bikes, hanging out at the beach, and meeting up with friends. And you wouldn’t be wrong. We’re working hard at getting Younger Next Year and the sunshine and warm weather definitely helps with motivation! And so does the 77-year old member of our YNY Facebook Group who shares how much the book has changed his life!
But I’m also working pretty hard too. By choice. I’ve dumped a few of my side gigs because I had the chance to start a new project. We’ve talked about this project since FinCon17 last October, but the talk changed to action last month. And today, our new website Women Who Money goes live!
What is Women Who Money about?
We created the site to provide trustworthy personal finance information for women – whether they are just learning the basics of personal finance or if they are further along in building a financial empire.
The goal is to help women:
- make career decisions
- improve their family’s financial situation
- understand investing
- increase their income
- start their own business
- achieve a secure retirement and more!
We want to be a “go-to” site for women’s money questions. We’re going to provide quality money-related articles at various levels -100-level (novice), 200-level (intermediate), and 300-level (advanced) – to educate, motivate, and guide women along their financial journey.
Did you notice that I keep saying WE?
This is a collaborative project that I started with Amy from Life Zemplified! And it’s not just Amy and I doing the writing. We are running the “behind the scenes” for the site, but we have other female personal finance bloggers contributing and acting as “team members” too! We’ll be highlighting their websites and all of the great content they produce because that is part of answering the money questions! We’ll direct readers to their sites to get specific stories and examples of how to apply what they are learning about on our site.
You might be thinking…Do we have something against men?
No way! Men will benefit from most of the articles on our website and we hope that men will share our site with the women in their lives. Women have some different money issues than men and we hope to address many of those issues.
I’m excited about this project! And it meets Harry’s 7th Rule (the doctor from Younger Next Year book.) The rule is connect and commit. Harry stresses that as you age you need to get involved in your community – or create a community around you. He also says you need to consider a “higher caring” where you go beyond yourself and those close to you to help others or other causes.
The tag line for the new website is Helping Women Take Control of Their Finances.
We are helping women personal finance writers spread their messages. And we hope those messages can answer the questions that other women have about their finances. We are seeking win-win by helping both groups of women. We want to connect these two groups and we’re committed to do it!
I’ll still be writing here at Make Smarter Decisions too. We have some BIG news to share. But it has to wait for now… Stay tuned and thanks for checking out our new site!
